Breathable Air Quality

It is imperative that control measures are put in place to make sure that compressed air that is used for breathing purposes meets the legal standards as stated by EN12021:2014.

Maziak offers an Air Quality Testing Service because we care about the safety of everybody that relies on an air compressor system to provide them with breathing air, whether they are our customers or not.

What factors can affect the quality of air within your compressor?

  • Airborne contaminants from local processes can pollute the air supply if not removed by breathing air filtration.
  • Improper operation of desiccant filters means contaminants from breathing air will not be effectively removed
  • Malfunctioning dryers can affect and disrupt the oxygen concentration of the breathing air to unsafe levels.
  • High levels of water within the air compressor can freeze inside the valves responsible for controlling the airflow, and this can cause a drop in breathable air supply.

How often should the quality of your breathing air be tested?

According to the HSE, breathing air should be tested every at least every 3 months and more frequently if the environment calls for it.

If a change in the performance of the compressor or filtration equipment has taken place it can continue to develop at a rapid pace and pose significant health risks. This is why it is important to carry out regular checks to ensure that everything within your air compressor system is operating as it should.
