Nitrogen is commonly used in aircraft tyres, thanks to its numerous benefits. Firstly, Nitrogen is an unreactive gas, and therefore a safe option for high-stress situations and extreme temperatures as it is unlikely to cause an undesirable reaction. This is in comparison to oxygen which can react with the rubber tyres and weaken them. Not only for safety reasons, Nitrogen is also an ideal choice as it does not permeate through the tyres as quickly as oxygen, meaning the ideal pressure is maintained for longer.

We’ve also installed on-site nitrogen generators for use in preventing user contamination from radiation when using radioactive materials in laboratory glove boxes.
