The Royal & Derngate theatre complex opened in Northampton in 1983 when the Derngate Theatre was added to Royal Theatre (originally opened in 1884). In addition to staging and producing entertainment, the complex also provides a programme of creative projects for Youth Theatre and the local community.
At the heart of any production are the props and the scenery and in the depths of the building lie the workshops where scenery is made and the scenery changing machinery is housed. Critical to all of this are the theatre’s compressors. In 1983 Maziak had installed four Broomwade machines and over 20 years on, despite careful maintenance, these were ready for an upgrade.
State of the art in their time, the Broomwades are big, noisy, piston machines, requiring after coolers. Maziak recommended replacing these machines with 3 small HPC SK22s. These provide energy efficiencies through airend optimization and the minimization of internal pressure losses.
In addition the machines are fitted with an Energair intelligent controller so that they work in rotation for maximum efficiency and longevity.
Reliability and energy savings alongside quiet machines have provided significant enhancements to Royal & Derngate’s workshop operations.
A Maziak Silver Service Agreement provides peace of mind should any problems arise and allows easy budgeting with pre-planned labour costs included in annual budgets.
