Turn-Key Engineered Plug and Play Plant Room Solution

A South Wales-based engineering and design consultancy firm approached Atlas Copco with a requirement for a nitrogen generation package. The equipment needed to be supplied, installed, and delivered as a "turnkey" solution within a suitable housing. This housing had to be easily off-loaded, positioned in yard space, and connected for "plug and play" operation.

As part of the Atlas Copco group, Maziak was tasked with designing and providing an engineered solution. After agreeing on the design, scope of supply, expectations, and commercial details, Maziak received the equipment from Atlas Copco and began the build at their Northamptonshire premises.

To meet the client's needs, Maziak selected a 20-foot shipping container as the housing due to its mobility, security, and load-bearing capacity. Enhancements included:

• Accessibility: An electric 1.8-meter roller shutter door was installed on one side for easy operational access and initial loading while retaining the standard high-security swing door on one end.
• Electrical and Piping Work: Maziak completed all NICEIC-certified electrical works and pressure system piping between the provided equipment. This included the necessary Written Scheme of Examination for Pressure Systems Safety Regulations to ensure operational compliance.
• Temperature Control: Internal heating was added to the air compressors' sump and the general container to maintain a minimum temperature of +5°C, as required by the equipment supplier. Additionally, air compressor hot air ducting and cool air ventilation were installed to ensure a suitable operational environment year-round.
• Lighting and Power: Adequate lighting and domestic power outlets were installed to ensure the package could be maintained and safely used throughout the year.

The client was highly satisfied with the delivered solution, as well as the consultancy and communication provided before, during, and after the project. The successful implementation of this turn-key nitrogen generation package demonstrated Maziak's capability to deliver complex engineering solutions efficiently and effectively.
