At Maziak, we are about so much more than the products we manufacture. We are made up of a team of dedicated people who are committed to helping communities around them in any way they can.
The Daylight Centre is a charity that has always been close to our hearts and it fills the Maziak team with pride that we are able to be a part of something that perpetuates hope, happiness and the essence of what a community should be all about.
The Daylight Centre was established in 1994 with the mission of helping to alleviate poverty and homelessness in North Northamptonshire. The charity supports vulnerable adults such as rough sleepers, those in poverty and those who are socially isolated by providing a community hub that is accessible by all.
Our very own Steve Matthews ran the Cambridge TTP Half Marathon and helped Maziak fly past their targeted £1000, with sponsorship and gift aid resulting in a grand total of £1176.25 raised for the Daylight Centre! Running 13.1 miles is no small feat and Steve accomplished it through sheer dedication and commitment to helping a charity that is all about improving lives one step at a time.
A sunny day saw 7 members of the Maziak team take to the Daylight Centre Fellowship’s allotment, where jobs ranging from shed painting to de-weeding and painting planters. Maziak were tasked with helping to prepare the allotment for its open day on the 8th of May. The purpose of setting up the allotment was to grow vegetables to support the charity’s food bank, and it was amazing for Maziak to be able to contribute to such a heartwarming effort to help vulnerable people.
Comic Relief provided us with the perfect opportunity to raise money and have fun doing it by transforming our office into a crazy golf arena. The whole team came together to design the ultimate golf phenomena with the aim of raising £50 for the charity. Maziak’s conviction saw this target surpassed by miles with £126.40 being raised overall!
We’ve finally reached the horizon of summer, but let’s take a short journey back to winter when the Maziak team came together to organise a warm clothes collection and contribute gifts to the Christmas raffle. This was on top of delivering sleeping bags, sleeping mats, sanitary products to the charity, to help make a cold and challenging time a lot easier for those in the community who need some help and support.
