Maziak and the Daylight Centre: How We've Helped

Maziak have come to the aid of the Daylight Centre charity in a variety of ways over the years.

The Daylight Centre in Wellingborough has always been near and dear to everyone at Maziak. They are a non-profit organisation that lead the fight against homelessness, poverty and social exclusion; we are proud to have come to support such an important cause, especially given the current climate of the economy.

We have helped to raise donations for the Daylight Centre in a lot of different ways over the last few years and this article covers what the members of the Maziak team get up to when they’re not installing air compressors and carrying out air leak surveys.

Christmas Jumper Day

Everyone feels extra generous around festive time of the year, and we made the most of it by hosting our annual Maziak Christmas jumper day. We were able to raise a total of £300 as a result of this event, with the help of a Christmas raffle.

Reusing mobile phones

Going back a bit further to beginning of 2024, we were able to raise £500 from selling old mobile phones to our employees. Given how expensive it is these days to own a mobile phone, we knew that this idea would be a hit amongst our team, especially since the money from all purchases made would go towards helping the Daylight Centre charity.

Working on the allotment

We allocated 7 members of our team to work on the allotment owned by the Daylight Centre where a lot of food that the charity provides is generated. This project had multiple benefits, from giving our team members the opportunity to work together on something outside of installing air compressors, and it meant that the Daylight Centre had larger quantities of food available for those who needed it most.

Red nose & crazy golf

Raising money for a good cause can be done in some very entertaining ways, as we have proven at Maziak by combining red nose day with a game of crazy golf which resulted in us raising a total of £127.

Marathon Man

Steve Matthews completed the Cambridge half-marathon on his 61st birthday and showed everyone just how motivating raising money for a good cause can be. The support for his endeavor raised a total of £1176.25 for the Daylight Centre and on top of this, Steve successfully completed the marathon in under 2.5 hours!

Food bank and winter clothes

In the lead up to colder months, we arranged a foodbank and winter clothes collection drive, so that everybody who required a bit of extra support around this particularly harsh time of year would receive it. A little definitely went a long way with everything from warm socks to jumpers and sleeping bags being donated. These items came to the aid of rough sleepers in our local area which is what the Daylight Centre is all about.

We hope that this article does our relationship with the Daylight Centre justice and goes to show how big of a difference small actions can make when these actions are carried out as a team.
